Nithyananda disciples hold proxy press meet

Their sex scandal-tainted swamiji is still at large, so a press conference called by three senior followers of self-styled godman Paramahamsa Nithyananda on Monday turned out to be a proxy platform to clear some of the charges levelled against him.

DH photoNot only did they not answer reporters’ queries on the video flicks which allegedly showed Nithyananda in a sex romp with a Tamil actress, for the most part the three saffron-clad swamijis’ stock response was “no comments”. The press conference was organised at Nithyananda’s Bidadi ashram a day after the godman appeared in a video to proclaim he had done nothing illegal.
All that Nithyananda’s press coordinator Nithya Sachithananda would say was that the secretly filmed footage showing the godman make out with Tamil actress Ranjitha was released to malign his swamiji and that it was executed with “surgical precisions.”
Sachithananda said the “swamiji himself will appear to comment on all issues related to the video.”
When asked when Nithyananda would appear to clear all charges, Sachithananda said the godman’s “personal security” was risk and so “we have advised him to come after a few days.”
Pointing out that his organisation was consulting legal experts, Sachithananda questioned the technological knowledge of Nithyananda’s close aide Lenin Karuppan, alias Dharmananda, who is believed to have secretly filmed Nithyananda’s sexcapades in a room within the ashram premises.
Asked whether the sting operation was the result of a land or finaincial deal gone awry, Sachitananda said “no comments.” Sachithananda claimed Nithyananda’s organisation has no branches in Sri Lanka and that the Bidadi ashram was built over “100 per cent legal and patta land.” He also brushed aside allegations of encroachment.
Sachithananda claimed Ranjitha visited the Bidadi ashram as a devotee seven months back and attended meditation programmes. He challenged a 23-year-old woman who had earlier levelled charges of rape and sexual harassment against Nithyananda to identify herself and denied the allegations.

Mar 8, 2010: A CD with a recording of Nithyananda speaking was issued to media houses by the godman’s attorney M Shreedhar on Sunday in which the ‘Swami’ claimed he is collecting facts to prove that the allegations and rumours about him were false and he will come out with the truth very soon.
“The video clips that appeared on television channels are fake and it was the work of miscreants who wanted to defame me and my establishment,” Nithyananda said and added: “We are in the process of collecting evidence on the persons behind the false video footage. Very soon the truth will be unearthed and I will come before the media with necessary evidence.”
Advocate Shreedhar said the video clips had been morphed and added that Swami Nithyananda was now in Varanasi attending the Kumbh Mela. “We are ready to face the case legally and will prove Swamiji’s innocence. We would apply for anticipatory bail once the FIR is filed in the court.”
On Saturday, Nithya Dharmananda alias Lenin Karuppan, former aide to Nithyananda, owned up having shot the alleged sexual acts of his former Guru and distributing the tape to the media. He appeared before Chennai Police Commissioner T Rajendran lodged a complant against Nithyananda.
He claimed he had shot the scenes of Nityananda in a compromising position with an actress and distributed the tape to the media to bring to light the ‘original face of the Swamiji.” He alleged that Nithyananda sexually exploited devotees.

At last it has been revealed that a former disciple of Swami Nityananda, Swami Dharmananda alias Lenin Karuppan had videographed Swami Nithyananda with Tamil Actress Ranjitha. Nityananda's former aide, Karuppan confessed his role in making a video tape of his guru involved in a sexual act.
He has logded a complaint and accused Swami Nithyananda of harassment and criminal intimidation. Chennai Police Commissioner, T Rajendran said that special teams have been formed to secure Swami Nityananda for further investigations.
Swami Dharmananda alias Lenin Karuppan told police that Swami Nityananda was sexually assaulting women visiting the ashram and forced them into unnatural acts of sex. One person had even died in a suspicious manner, whereas another one had attempted suicide in the ashram. Karuppan said that Nityananda has bisexual tendencies. Since Nithyananda often used to meet Ranjitha in the ashram, the former aide decided to secretly videograph the happenings.The Nityananda and Ranjitha full video is available all over the net and people are watching it again and again.
Karuppan admitted that he was Nityananda's faithful devotee since 2004 and alleged that Nityananda used to compare himself to Lord Krishna and his devotees(women) as gopis. He then used to take liberties, which involved acts of physical initmacy.
Karuppan said that last month when Nityananda had come to a function in Tamil Nadu he had threatned Karuppan to deposit the sextapes with him or face severe consequences. Fearing for his life, Karuppan fled their company.
T Rajendra, the Commissioner confirmed that Karuppan had given the complaint and a CD of the bedroom scenes of Nityananda has also been submitted to the police.

The godman’s former disciple, Nitya Dharmananda alias Lenin Karuppan, has claimed he filmed Nityanand’s sexcapades “ to unmask the man masquerading as a spiritual leader”. The videos showed Nityanand in compromising positions with actress Ranjitha. According to Dharmananda, she served as Nityanand’s personal attendant during her frequent, dayslong visits to his ashram.
The former disciple is said to have told the police more about the godman’s ‘ sexcapades’ and other murky happenings at his ashram. “ He had intimate relationships with many other heroines too,” Dharmananda said.
He added that his suspicions about the godman’s activities were aroused with the death of a devotee from Canada at the ashram. They were deepened when another devotee attempted suicide.
Dharmananda is also said to have handed over to the police two CDs believed to contain Nityanand’s dalliance with other tinseltown beauties.
The former Nityanand disciple said he had joined the godman’s staff as a driver. He went on to become Nityanand’s trusted lieutenant and settled down in the Bangalore ashram in 2006. He had free access to the godman’s private rooms and he said he made the tapes December last.
“ Sensing I had done a sting operation, Nityanand and ashram functionaries threatened me on February 18 during a visit to Salem. I escaped,” Dharmananda said. He has sought police protection.
However, Dharmananda’s claims have raised doubts about the motive behind the release of the sleaze tapes.
In the meantime, Nityanand has said the videos were “ morphed” and that it was “ a conspiracy to defame” him. In an appeal through his website, he has urged his followers not to be carried away by the tapes.
