GEORGE TOWN: Even if Swami Paramahamsa Nithyananda is found guilty of being involved in a sex scandal, the centre in Kuala Lumpur which promotes his teachings will not be asked to closed down.
Malaysia Hindu Sangam (MHS) president R.S. Mohan Shan said this was because the guru’s teachings were not against Hinduism.
“If the case is proven against Swami Nithyananda, we will just advise the centre to change its name and continue its activities which are in accordance with the religion,” he said yesterday.
Mohan Shan said the sangam was awaiting confirmation and further details from one of the main atheenams in India.
Atheenam is an institution where spiritual leaders gather to discuss all aspects related to Hinduism.
“So far, we have not received any information and therefore, we are not in a position to issue any directive for the time being,” he said.
Nithyananda landed in trouble following the telecast of video footage by a television channel in India showing him in a compromising position with a Tamil actress.
