பெங்களூர்: சுவாமி நித்தியானந்தா குறித்த வீடியோவை திரும்பத் திரும்ப ஒளிபரப்பியது மோசமான, அறுவறுப்பான செயல் என்று கர்நாடக முதல்வர் எதியூரப்பா மற்றும் உள்துறை அமைச்சர் வி.எஸ்.ஆச்சார்யா ஆகியோர் கூறியுள்ளனர்.
இதுகுறித்து பெங்களூரில் செய்தியாளர்களிடம் எதியூரப்பா பேசுகையில், தமிழகத்திடமிருந்து விசாரணை குறித்த அறிக்கைக்காக நாங்கள் காத்திருக்கிறோம்.
நித்தியானந்தா தொடர்பான வீடியோ காட்சிகளை தொடர்ந்து திரும்பத் திரும்ப ஒளிபரப்பிய செயல் நல்லதல்ல, மோசமான ஒன்று. இது நநமது நாட்டு கலாச்சாரத்திற்கு முரணானது.

இதற்கிடையே, திருச்சியிலிருந்து ஒரு போலீஸ் இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் பெங்களூர் வந்துள்ளார். திருச்சியைச் சேர்ந்த சுரேந்தர் என்பவர் நித்தியானந்தாவிடம் சிறைப்பட்டுள்ளதாக அவரது தந்தையான ஓய்வு பெற்ற தமிழாசிரியர் சமீபத்தில் கூறியிருந்தார். இதுதொடர்பாக போலீஸிலும் புகார் கொடுத்திருந்தார்.

Bidadi, Mar 11: Tiruchi police has reportedly received a complaint from a couple alleging that their son had been forcibly held at Swami Nithyananda's ashram at Bidadi.

According to a Times News Network report, a police inspector from Tiruchi landed at Bidadi police station on Wednesday, Mar 10 looking for a youth from Tiruchi.
"It all depends on what the boy wants to do. He can either go with his parents or stay back. We are only assisting the Tiruchi police," police sources are quoted as saying.
This comes amid the raging controversy over a sex scandal involving the godman. A scandalous video of the Swamiji in a compromising position with a Tamil actress Ranjitha surfaced last week, giving raise to a lot more allegations against the spiritual guru.
As the media dug deep to find more dirt on Nityananda, it was alleged that human right violations and sexual abuse took place in the ashram.
Apart from the reports of two people held forcibly in the ashram, there are reports that a Canadian devotee died in the ashram under mysterious circumstances.
The ashram authorities, however, have brushed aside all these allegations.

The scandalous video which surfaced on Mar 2 shows Swami Nithyananda in a compromising position with Tamil actress Ranjitha. The sex scandal first came to light as the media aired the footage. The footage continues to be played in the media as the controversy refuses to die down.
"It (repeated telecast of the footage) does not adhere to our culture," the chief minister is quoted as saying in a Times of India report.
On the investigations into the scandal, BSY said that Tamil Nadu is yet to submit a report on the case. Acharya said that he has directed DC and SP of Ramanagaram to probe the case.

Yeddyurappa said that he was waiting for the investigation report on the case from Tamil Nadu, while Acharya said that the state government has directed DC and SP of Ramanagaram to probe the case. As no report has come from Tamil Nadu, no case has been booked against the swami.
The repeated telecast of the footage, he said does not well with the tradition of our country. "It does not adhere to our culture," the chief minister said. Regarding the ashram land, he said there is no law to take away private land.

The Karnataka High Court today restrained local television channels from airing "obscene, uncensored and private bedroom scenes" relating to self-styled godman Swami Nityananda's alleged sex scandal.
A bench of justices V Gopala Gowda and B S Patil ordered issue of notice to the state government and several TV channels on a PIL by former BJP MLA and advocate K N Subba Reddy.
According to Reddy, some channels on March 3 had telecast video clippings of alleged illegal and immoral activities of Nityananda and a Tamil actress. Soon this was telecast in all channels across the country.
He submitted that the clippings contained obscene and immoral scenes and this would have a definite bearing on young children and had an impact on the elders.
Such telecast would degrade several persons and also harm young minds, the petitioner said and prayed for a direction to the respondent media to stop and refrain from telecasting "the obscene, uncensored and private bedroom scenes".
Noting that he was neither defending Nityananda nor the activities, he said he was interested in upholding the great Indian culture and heritage.
After passing the interim order, the judges adjourned the hearing on the petition to March 17.
Following violence targeting Nityananda's ashram near Bangalore and in Tamil Nadu and complaints of rape and cheating against him, the ashram had called the clippings a conspiracy to malign him, claiming they were morphed.

Social scientists may be able to answer this — what is the trigger point for a peaceful but angry procession to turn violent? The police, because of their experience in handling processions that are peaceful but turn ugly later, may actually be in a better position to figure out when pent up fury bursts open.
If they knew that for sure, they would probably be able to turn things around. And the proof that there is no clear cut answer lies in the recent violence in some parts of the state.
The violence in the wake of protest marches in Hassan and Shimoga, following publication of an article in a newspaper, was eminently avoidable. There have been cases from the past of processions against publications going completely haywire.
It does not take more than a couple of stone-throwing incidents and burning of tyres to create a sense of fear in areas with a mixed population. Surely, in this particular case, different communities were also itching to let off steam going by the few stabbing incidents that followed later.
Many see in such instances a periodic ventilation of pent-up frustration or anger by groups of people or communities. That still does not explain why some petty shops and establishments in Hassan or Shimoga, which had very little to do with the publication of an article in a newspaper, had to be torched by protestors. It can’t even be called collateral damage because they were as far as they could be from the newspaper.
Many now believe that it is the lack of sensitivity on the part of the media that is causing tensions to remain high, even if the initial burst of anger and pent up feelings may have passed.
The case of swami Nithyananda is quite illustrative. He was a self-proclaimed godman. So the rules of a religious order may not have applied to him. Yet, you do not wish to see a saffron clad swami’s romp in a bed room just as one does not wish to see an ageing governor of a state, ND Tiwari, in a similar situation.
Even if the conduct of these two men was not unlawful, the fact that it lowered the dignity of the position they held in the eyes of the public may be a sufficient cause to expose them. But to bombard us with lurid images continuously is an affront to our sensibilities.
That is what you may think but television channels know that there is a huge audience for such stuff that is sure to bring in better TRP ratings. Sensitivity, therefore, can go out of the window as long as they can claim that they are serving public interest. Pubic interest, however, is least served when the media disregards the consequences of either publishing or broadcasting images that can be provocative.
As a rule, Indian media shies away from criticising each other unlike in the West. In fact, when violence broke out in Hassan and Shimoga last week after a Kannada newspaper published an article, most papers did not identify the paper in their news reports the next day.
The reason, obviously, was that by identifying the paper, one would be exposing those who worked for that particular paper to violence. Quite a good reason to be careful. Why then, one may wonder, did the newspaper — Kannada Prabha — ignore such sensitivity knowing fully well that anything that seemingly criticised practices in a particular religion would touch raw nerves?

The first casualty in the race for eye balls is restraint and a complete disregard for the larger good. Mata fame director Guruprasad has condemned Paramahamasa Nithyananda Swamiji by saying that despite having alleged affair with Tamil actress Ranjitha, he continues to deny the fact. He said if he thought he was pure, then he should hand over all his alleged property to the government and re-establish his personality as a samyasi by sacrificing all worldly things.

Three years ago, the director had predicted this kind of alleged act in his blockbuster movie Mata, which featured comedy king Jaggesh in lead. The movie deals with the purity of crimson cloth (Khavi dress). It depicts the illegal activities that happen in today's Ashrams.
In an interview to Kannada news channel TV9 on Wednesday evening, Guruprasad said, “Although whole world has seen Swamiji's video footage, he denies it by saying it has been morphed. If he is clear and he has not allegedly made any property. Then he should give up all his belongings to government. He should give up his worldly desires and reestablish himself as a real Swamiji."
Guruprasad also slammed at the devotee of Nithyananda by calling them 'foolish'. He said, “Despite seeing him involving in sexual act with actress Ranjitha at his Bidadi Ashram, they still believe him as their Guru. They don't think that he is a great actor. They still support him, adore him as a godman."
The director said that there are hundreds of Swamijis like Shivakuamrji those who are serving the society. The people like Nithyananda are creating bad impression about them. He further said, "Finally, I would like to suggest his devotees they should wake and stop supporting him. For Swamiji, I would suggest his drama is enough and he should shed his mask and come out with clean hands.”

Bangalore, Mar 11: The scandal-tainted Swami Nithyananda was given a chance to clear off all the allegations levelled against him when a Princeton-based researcher Rajiv Malhotra caught up with him on an interview.

In the interview Mr Mahaltra brought up all of the allegations slapped against the godman, except the one involving a sex scandal with Tamil actress Ranjitha, which surfaced last week.
When asked about the controversy over the Bidadi ashram land, the spiritual guru said that the land was donated to his mission by Karnataka's Sajjan Rao family in 2003. He added that the land was obtained legally and all the documents supporting this land transfer were with the ashram.
The interviewer, who is also disciple of the Swamiji, asked him to put up all the documents on his website so that things are clear to the people.
"Will publish immediately," the Swami promised.
'No crime involved in Canadian devotee's death'
On the mysterious death of a Canadian devotee, Nithayanada reiterated what was said earlier by the ashram that the death was an accident.
The devotee had a habit of sitting on the parapet wall, and he did not listen to the ashram inmates' repeated advises against it, the Swamiji said, adding that one day when he fell from the parapet wall.
"He was immediately rushed to hospital, where he was declared brought dead," Nithyananda informed.
The police and the family are convinced that it was an accident and there was no crime involved, he stated.
'No one is being held forcibly at the ashram'
Terming the reports claiming that youngsters being held forcibly at this ashram as 'pure lies', Nithyananada said, "Everybody is there willingly. If they want to leave, they are free to leave."
The inmates first fill up applications for admission into ashram. Youngsters are also expected to submit a consent letter from the parents, the Swami added.
This was in reference to the media reports suggesting that people are being held at the ashrams against their will, which accounts to human rights violations.
Swami stealing sandalwood?
On sandalwood charges, Swami Nithyananda clarified that that it is just a 'situation' and nothing more than that.
The bidadi ashram, which is filled with sandalwood trees, had invited the attention of some thieves. The thieves, who stole a tree, had left some pieces lieing around, he said.

After the theft a police complaint was lodged and the forest department was intimated, the Swamiji said. But now the authorities are claiming that they should have been informed about the pieces of sandalwood left there also, he added before terming it a 'situation' and nothing more.

The Star Online quoted Mohan Shan as saying that this was because the guru's teachings were not against Hinduism.
"If the case is proven against Swami Nithyananda, we will just advise the centre to change its name and continue its activities which are in accordance with the religion," he said.
Mohan Shan added that the ashram was awaiting confirmation and further details from one of the main atheenams in India.
Atheenam is an institution where spiritual leaders gather to discuss all aspects related to Hinduism.

Bangalore: Even as the sleaze case against Paramahamsa Nithyananda awaits the Tamil Nadu police chief’s nod to be transferred to Karnataka, a petition was filed before the high court of Karnataka seeking restraint order on television channels from airing the raunchy clippings.
Sources in the Tamil Nadu police said the case would be transferred to Karnataka only if director general of police Letika Saran rejoined duty on Wednesday. She had gone to visit her native state, Kerala.
Chennai police commissioner T Rajendran had on Monday said that the case, registered based on a complaint by former Nithyananda devotee Karuppa Lenin, would be transferred to Karnataka, as all offences alleged in the petition happened at Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam in Bidadi.
Lenin had accused Nithyananda of “misbehaving” with “beautiful” women and “forcing” them into performing sexual acts with him.
Meanwhile, in Karnataka, advocate and former president of the advocates’ association KN Subba Reddy, in his petition filed before the high court, named the chief secretary, police commissioner and the association of Broadcasting Company Private Limited as respondents.
Reddy contested that TV channels depicted illegal and immoral clips of Nithayananda with a woman, which had shocked everyone believing in the sanyasi dharma. Reddy named the woman as Ranjitha in the petition.
Children and teenagers, who had watched the repeated telecast of visuals, were misled into believing wrong things, the petitioner said, adding that the visuals had embarrassed viewers.
In a related development, the Nithyananda Dhyanapeetamsought advice to initiate legal action against Lenin, who claimed responsibility for taping the swami’s acts.
Following the sex scandal, the ashram was likely to postpone the Mahakumbabhishekam, originally scheduled for March 21, according to Sri Nithya Pranananda, a senior executive of the ashram.

Shimla, Mar 10: Enraged at the increasing number of religious gurus being caught in sex scandals, Yoga guru Swami Ramdev on Tuesday, Mar 9 has sought death sentence for fraud 'babas' who indulged in wrong doings in the name of religion.

Expressing the need to keep a check on fraud religious gurus, Ramdev prescribed a minimum qualification to prevent everyone from becoming a 'baba'.
"I am talking to leading religious heads for this," he told reporters here in the presence of Himachal Pradesh Chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.
When asked if he would like to be part of a body like Press Council of India to keep an eye on "fraud" religious babas, he declined saying that there are many qualified persons to take care of such issues.
The statement came after a sex video of Swami Nithyananda created an uproar across the counry.
In the same week, a religious guru, Icchadhari Baba was arrested by the Delhi police for running sex rackets in different parts of the country and even abroad.
Ramdev also expressed his support for the Women's Reservation Bill when he was asked to comment on it.
Talking about his political plans, Ramdev said that he was not launching any party but said that the 'force' he was creating in all 543 Lok Sabha constituencies of the country would have a dominant role in next general elections to choose right public representatives.
Ramdev ruled out the possibility of joining politics, stating that he has no political ambition.
"My role will be that of a guide to finish off 'Ravanas' who are ruining the political system now," he said.
The yoga guru also emphasised on the need for launching a nation-wide campaign against black money.

Politicians in bed with India's 'pimp gurus'

GHAZIABAD, Uttar Pradesh - His silk robes, ornate turbans and high-end imported sedans belie his status as "god-man", a Hindu ascetic who guides people in their spiritual quest. In fact, the personalized carriage that chugs around a specially laid railway track in his ashram, as well as his sprawling farms, dairies, factories, bakeries, schools and floating, revolving restaurant, all point to a life of luxury.
Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim is the head of Dera Sacha Sauda, a religious sect in Sirsa (a city in the west of Haryana state, about 255 kilometers from New Delhi) that has millions of disciples. He is a prime example of why notoriety follows India's self-proclaimed "god-men".
When the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), India's central
investigative agency, recently charged him in connection with the murder of Faqir Chand, a former associate in the Dera Sacha Sauda, his followers went on a rampage, bringing life to a standstill in parts of Punjab and Haryana states.
After passenger trains and the Punjab finance minister's bus were set alight, additional police forces had to be drafted in with fire extinguishers as rumors spread that the Baba's devotees planned to self-immolate.
It is not the first time that the police's attempts to detain Baba Gurmeet have led to riots. Last year, his private guards were accused of shooting a Sikh dead in Mumbai, leading to mass unrest. Disciples also protested in 2008 when the CBI implicated him in two murders and the rape of a sadhvi (female disciple).
The Faqir Chand murder is the fourth CBI case involving the Baba, who is 43. Chand has been missing for over a decade, but the case was only recently assigned to the CBI when Ramkumar Bishnoi, a man from Chand's village, approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Baba Gurmeet is currently being tried for the murders and the rape case in Ambala, a city on the New Delhi-Chandigarh highway. The murder cases relate to the killings of Ramchander Chhatrapati, a local journalist, and Ranjeet Singh, a former disciple.
Chhatrapati would criticize Gurmeet's alleged misdeeds in his news reports, while Ranjeet Singh had accused Gurmeet of raping his younger sister. The CBI has charged Baba Gurmeet with arranging their deaths through his henchmen.
Try as it might, the CBI has not been able to detain Baba Gurmeet. While his co-accused cool their heels behind bars, Gurmeet has been granted bail and will testify in Ambala court through a video conference. Some say this is because, with his millions of disciples, Gurmeet is still very useful tool for local politicians.
Before the controversies, various leaders from political parties such as the Shiromani Akali Dal, the ruling Congress party and the Indian National Lok Dal, would all regularly visit him.
"Politicians still patronize him for votes. That is why his supporters can indulge in arson and rioting and the police stay away from him," said Anshul Chhatrapati, the son of Ramchander Chhatrapati.
Gurmeet's spokesperson, Aditya, denies the charges and says the media should instead focus on the charities financed by the Dera Sacha Sauda sect.
Besides Gurmeet, other religious gurus have recently been implicated in unsavory episodes that purportedly involved police and politicians.
Swami Nithyananda, a god-man who has a large following in the southern states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu was last week filmed cavorting with an unidentified Tamil actress in a television sting operation - he is now on the run. His ashram has said the video footage, run by a television channel, is "fake".
Swami Bhimananda, a follower of the legendry guru Sai Baba, was arrested by police in February for allegedly running a high-end call girl racket in the city. Bhimananda allegedly used a temple in south Delhi for operations allegedly involving about 200 prostitutes, including air hostesses from a foreign airline and students. Bhimananda has been arrested on similar charges in the past.
Delhi police have said that contacts of the accused revealed from six diaries seized at the time of his arrest included the names of "100 high-profile policemen, politicians and bureaucrats, besides prostitutes". They added that Bhimananda, who media have dubbed the "pimp guru", had political ambitions and wanted to use his many followers as a vote bank.
The cases of Baba Gurmeet, Nithyananda and Bhimananda have re-affirmed the views of skeptics that India's self-styled god-men, despite their claims of spiritual or mystical powers, are simply confidence tricksters.
"Most of them are not [holy]. They're charlatans. I don't know why people fall for them," Dipankar Gupta, a former sociology professor at Jawarhalal Nehru University in New Delhi told Agence France Presse over the Karnataka sex scandal.
The nexus between the fake god-men and politicians and police is a vicious cycle, TN Jayachandran, former additional chief secretary of Kerala state, told the Thai-Indian news agency.
"God-men make their presence felt because those who have power and money search for temporary peace through them. These god-men, in turn, exploit these high-profile people and use them to expand their base and fame," he said.
Not all are dismayed at the recent scandals. Sanal Edamaruku, head of the Indian Rationalist Association, who has campaigned for years to expose false gurus, told the Straits Times that they are part of new awareness developing in India over the god-men. "I am very, very happy about it," he said.

നിത്യാനന്ദയ്ക്കെതിരെയുള്ള ആരോപണം ശരിയാണെന്ന് തെളിയിക്കപ്പെട്ടാലും ആശ്രമം പൂട്ടില്ല. അതേസമയം അദ്ദേഹം കുറ്റക്കാരനാണെങ്കില് ആശ്രമത്തിന്റെ പേര് മാറ്റി ഇപ്പോള് ചെയ്യുന്ന മതപരമായ പ്രവര്ത്തനങ്ങള് മുന്നോട്ടുകൊണ്ടുപോകാനാണ് തീരുമാനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്- മോഹന് പറഞ്ഞു.

Kuala Lumpur, Mar 10: A day after it was reported that scandal-tainted Swami Nithyananda's ashram in Kuala Lumpur will be shut down, Malaysia Hindu Sangam (MHS) president stated otherwise.

"If the case is proven against Swami Nithyananda, we will just advise the centre to change its name and continue its activities which are in accordance with the religion," The Star quoted him as saying on Wednesday, Mar 10.
"So far, we have not received any information and therefore, we are not in a position to issue any directive for the time being," he added.
On Tuesday, Mar 9, Nithyananda's Kuala Lumpur ashram spokesperson informed that the ashram has ceased operations until 'the truth is revealed'.
"We made the decision to stop operations for a while following advice from the Malaysia Hindu Sangam," the spokesperson was quoted as saying in the same newspaper.

Bangalore, Mar 9: Addressing a press conference at the Bidadi Ashram on Monday, Mar 8, Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam authorities said that they can not positively confirm or deny that the man seen in the sex tape is Swami Nithyananda or not.

International co-ordinator and spokesperson, Swami Nitya Sachithananda, Sri Nitya Gnanananda Mahacharya, and Nitya Prananda informed that Nithyananda will be talking to his devotess once again through a website in a span of four or five days.
The mission authorities stuck to the contention that the sex scandal was created with 'surgical precision' by someone who wanted to defame the spiritual guru.
“We are contemplating legal action against those responsible for tarnishing the image of Swami Nithyananda and the ashram,” the spokesperson said.
He also dismissed various allegations levelled against Nithyananda and his ashram in the media in the wake of the sex scandal.
Apart from brushing aside reports of rape and sexual abuse, Sachithananda also dismissed land dispute between the ashram authorities and the Maran family and the alleged human right violations in the ashram.
On the mysterious death of a Canadian devotee in the ashram, he clarified that the decreased, identified as Melvin Boyd Diamond, had a history of health problem and that the ashram could produce the post mortem report to prove that there was no foul play involved.

The centre’s spokesman said it had been flooded with calls from followers since the Swami’s alleged involvement in the scandal broke out.
“We made the decision to stop operations for a while following advice from the Malaysia Hindu Sangam,” he said when contacted here yesterday.
Nithyananda landed in trouble following the telecast of video footage by a television channel in India showing him in a compromising position with a Tamil actress.
The spokesman said the ashram in Taman Desa Gombak was the only centre in the country to promote the teachings of Nithyananda. It was set up two years ago.
He said devotees, who learnt about healing the sick and tapping into their inner strength for peace of mind, provided services from their homes.
“We do not have the exact number of devotees in Malaysia or healing centres. I believe there are about 400 healers in the country,” he said.
Bank clerk N. Thirunavukkarasu, 45, said he has been Nithyananda’s follower for the past three years.
“I was shocked to see the footage. I do not believe that the Swami would have done something like that.
“Ever since I became a follower of his teachings, I have experienced a lot of positive changes in my life,” he said, adding that he met Nithyananda during the latter’s visits to Malaysia in 2008 and 2009.
Another follower who only wished to be known as Kumar, in his 30s, said he was disappointed that Tamil dailies here only published one-sided reports against Nithyananda.
“One day they are full of praises for him and next they just put him down,” he said, adding that he believes the footage could have been doctored.

“It was a laser-like operation conducted with surgical precision,” Sacchithananda explained. Lenin claimed that he had used an air freshner with an embedded camera and a satellite communication device.
Sacchithananda felt that a “dissatisfied individual”, who had not completed his 12 standard, could not come up with a “highly-specialised feed.” “It is definitely done with the help of someone with sound technical knowledge,” he said.
When asked if it was the swami seen in the clip, Sacchithananda said he would not speculate: “We cannot state anything beyond the truth. We do not know about it and cannot say anything positive or negative. We will not speculate.”
Actor no brahmacharini
The ashram authorities clarified that the actor, suspected to be Ranjitha, was neither a brahmacharini nor an inmate of the ashram. “She had attended a programme seven months ago. But, she is not a brahmacharini. We do not know if it was she who was seen in the video. We also don’t know whether she had attempted suicide or if she was also part of the conspiracy,” Sacchidananda said. The ashram claimed that they were not in touch with her and “she was unavailable for comment”.
Inmates saw it coming
Some of the ashram inmates were aware of the video at least two weeks before it was aired. “A few brahmacharis and brahmacharinis had received clippings as well as blog posts by e-mail,” Sacchithananda said. GEORGE TOWN: A centre in Kuala Lumpur which promotes the teachings of Indian spiritual guru Swami Paramahamsa Nithyananda who is involved in a sex scandal has ceased operations until “the truth is revealed”.
The centre’s spokesman said it had been flooded with calls from followers since the Swami’s alleged involvement in the scandal broke out.
“We made the decision to stop operations for a while following advice from the Malaysia Hindu Sangam,” he said when contacted here yesterday.
Nithyananda landed in trouble following the telecast of video footage by a television channel in India showing him in a compromising position with a Tamil actress.
The spokesman said the ashram in Taman Desa Gombak was the only centre in the country to promote the teachings of Nithyananda. It was set up two years ago.
He said devotees, who learnt about healing the sick and tapping into their inner strength for peace of mind, provided services from their homes.
“We do not have the exact number of devotees in Malaysia or healing centres. I believe there are about 400 healers in the country,” he said.
Bank clerk N. Thirunavukkarasu, 45, said he has been Nithyananda’s follower for the past three years.
“I was shocked to see the footage. I do not believe that the Swami would have done something like that.
“Ever since I became a follower of his teachings, I have experienced a lot of positive changes in my life,” he said, adding that he met Nithyananda during the latter’s visits to Malaysia in 2008 and 2009.
Another follower who only wished to be known as Kumar, in his 30s, said he was disappointed that Tamil dailies here only published one-sided reports against Nithyananda.
“One day they are full of praises for him and next they just put him down,” he said, adding that he believes the footage could have been doctored.

Mar 8, 2010: A CD with a recording of Nithyananda speaking was issued to media houses by the godman’s attorney M Shreedhar on Sunday in which the ‘Swami’ claimed he is collecting facts to prove that the allegations and rumours about him were false and he will come out with the truth very soon.
“The video clips that appeared on television channels are fake and it was the work of miscreants who wanted to defame me and my establishment,” Nithyananda said and added: “We are in the process of collecting evidence on the persons behind the false video footage. Very soon the truth will be unearthed and I will come before the media with necessary evidence.”
Advocate Shreedhar said the video clips had been morphed and added that Swami Nithyananda was now in Varanasi attending the Kumbh Mela. “We are ready to face the case legally and will prove Swamiji’s innocence. We would apply for anticipatory bail once the FIR is filed in the court.”
On Saturday, Nithya Dharmananda alias Lenin Karuppan, former aide to Nithyananda, owned up having shot the alleged sexual acts of his former Guru and distributing the tape to the media. He appeared before Chennai Police Commissioner T Rajendran lodged a complant against Nithyananda.
He claimed he had shot the scenes of Nityananda in a compromising position with an actress and distributed the tape to the media to bring to light the ‘original face of the Swamiji.” He alleged that Nithyananda sexually exploited devotees.

Self-styled Godman Swami Nithyananda, who was in an eye of storm after having been caught in camera in a compromising position with a Tamil film actress, today claimed that he had done nothing illegal, even as special teams fanned out to several states to find the whereabouts of the Swamiji.

Speaking in a VCD, sent through his lawyer, the Godman, without going into the specifics of the controversy surrounding his sleazy acts, said neither he nor the Ashram run by him had committed any wrong doing.
”Neither I nor the Ashram had done anything illegal,” he said, speaking in Tamil in the CD, without confirming or denying his sleazy acts.
The VCDs, sent by the Godman from an undislcosed destination, to the Ashram lawyer, were circulated to a section of the media today.
The contents of the speech were telecast by a private Tamil Satellite Channel which had beamed the pictures of the Godman with the actress.
He said he was in the process of collecting details and truth with regard to the charges and allegations levelled against him.
Observing that he would face them legally, the Godman said he would soon place the entire truth before the public after collecting all necessary details and evidence.
The Godman’s statement comes a day after his former aide Nithya Dharmananda alias Lenin Karuppan, owned up having shot the sexual acts of his former Guru and distributed them to the media. He had claimed that he had shot the scenes of Nityananda in a compromising position with the actress with the help of the Ashram inmates in Bangalore and distributed the tape to the media to save the lives of young women devotees.
The former aide listed a slew of complaints against the ”Spiritual Guru” and alleged that Swami Nityananda, claiming himself as an ‘Avtar’ of Lord Krishna, had sexually exploited the women devotees, describing them as Gopikas.

The disciple of the Godman also alleged in his complaint that the the Swamiji and his supporters also threatened to eliminate him and he managed to escape from their clutches and reach Chennai.
Based on a complaint from Lenin, police have slapped six cases against the Godman, including cheating, criminal intimidation, sexual abuse, conspiracy, and for hurting the sentiments of Hindus.
Even as Chennai City Police Commissioner T Rajendran yesterday said all the cases pertaining to the Godman would be transferred to Bengaluru since the entire incident had taken place at the Ashram at Bidadi, three special teams formed to trace his whereabouts fanned to Bangalore, Coimbatore and Palakkad. Acting on reports that the Swamiji was reportedly staying in his Ashram in Palakkad, a team had been sent there to confirm the veracity of the reports, though the Ashram officials maintained that the Godman was participating in Khumbh Mela in North India.
Police sources said of the six cases registered against the Godman, five cases would be transferred to Bengaluru and the one pertaining to holding out murder threat to his former disciple Nithya Dharmananda, for filming the sleazy acts, would be probed by the City police.
After the probe, a report would be sent to the Bangalore police for further action.

A Hindu holy man in India has denied any wrongdoing, days after video emerged apparently showing him engaging in sexual acts with two women.
A spokesman for Nithyananda Swami said he was at the Kumbh Mela festival and would soon "clear the air".
In a video released on Sunday, the guru said he had done nothing illegal and the scandal was "a false campaign".
His ashram near the southern city of Bangalore was vandalised last week after TV channels broadcast the video.
'Nothing illegal'
In a message on his official website on Sunday, the guru asked his followers to remain calm and patient.
"I assure all of you that nothing illegal has been done by me or my organisation. We are in the process of collecting evidence to establish this lie and the motive behind this false campaign," he said.
Swamiji, as he is known to his followers, said he would soon provide an explanation and answer all their queries.
"There is total transparency at the ashram and all allegations of illegal activity are baseless and motivated," ashram spokesman Satichandananda told a press conference on Monday.
Meanwhile, cases have been filed against the holy man in the southern city of Madras (Chennai) for "outraging the people's religious sentiments".
The guru's followers allege the video was created and distributed by a jealous resident of the ashram in a bid to defame him.
Last week the ashram called the footage "a mix of conspiracy, graphics and rumours".

Bangalore: Swami Paramahamsa Nithyananda, who is in the eye of a controversy after video clippings allegedly showing him and a Tamil actress in compromising positions were aired on TV channels, made a sudden appearance, on the web though, and protested his innocence, claiming that he and his organisations had done “nothing illegal”.
The godman, who the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka police said was absconding, appealed to “one and all” not to come to any conclusion based on the allegations made against him.
In his video statement, posted on his website http://dhyanapeetam.org on Sunday morning, Swami Nithyananda invoked the blessings of Lord Shiva and said: “Dear one and all, there have been many allegations against me and my organisations in the recent days. But, at the same time, I have received a flood of supporting emails, testimonials and letters from devotees and well wishers from all over the world, who have benefited from my teachings, over the years. They were all shocked to hear these allegations.”
“I want to assure you all that nothing illegal has been done by me or my organisations. We are in the process of collecting evidence to establish the falsity and motive of this campaign against me. I will address all the allegations and issue a detailed explanation. Meanwhile, I urge everyone not to rush to any judgment before all the facts have been put on the table and carefully examined.

No news of either of the two was known thereafter. People were so angry and desperate that they attacked the ashrams of Swamiji.

After getting intimate with Swami, she is said to have asked him to marry her and even got a positive response. He said that all that is talked about is mere speculation and that Nithyananda wants to come to light to speak on the issue. Addressing his devotees in a five-minute VCD, copies of which were distributed to the media by his lawyer here, the Swami alleged that calumnies and rumours were being spread against him and the ‘Gnanapeetam’.
“While I am receiving email, phone calls and letters from devotees and friends, expressing their support and affection, I can see that they are worried and concerned,” he said.
Beginning his speech with an incantation, the swami - who was in his trademark ochre robe and turban - claimed that neither he nor the ‘Gnanapeetam’ had committed any crime.
Nityananda said he and his associates were in the process of gathering all information about the charges and rumours, the motive and mindset that were operating them and the actual facts.
