Chennai: A week after a video of a meditation Guru Swami Nithyananda having sex with a Tamil film actor hit the air waves, the swami has gone missing.

The Chennai Police are still searching for Swami Nithyananda and his ashrams are still functioning. The Swami's lawyer says he's gone to Haridwar for his Kumbh Mela programme.

"The Swamiji is in the Kumbh Mela programme as per schedule. We have informed him. Some legal work is going on but soon Swamiji will give interview," says Nithyananda's advocate Sridhar.




But perhaps he is hiding in the Himalayas after Karnataka and Tamil Nadu filed criminal cases against him.

Nithyananda became a self styled spiritual and yoga guru when he was 17 and set up lucrative foundations across the world.

In a country which has seen several scandalous godmen, Swmai Nityanada joined the notorious list a week ago.

The actor who the Swami allegedly exploited sexually has also remained elusive to the media. The police say they are continuing their search and it's matter of time before the godman finds himself behind bars

The issue has gained momentum over the past few days with all sections of the society reacting strongly to it.

Even Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has asked the media to stop airing the visuals and also warned all the so called "fake monks" against playing with people's emotions.

But amidst all this chaos, the one question everyone is asking: Where is Paramahamsa Swami Nithyananda?
